Dog of War

My kids came over tonight to play and have a fantabulous dinner!
We got involved in a massive battle we call 10-on-10.
Your 10 army men are placed randomly at one end of the living room (on the floor) and your opponent does the same (on the other end of the room). Then it's simply a game of who can roll the designated ball and knock the other guys army men down first.
Well, tonight we chose a baseball for the 'roller'.. but my son also brought in a secret weapon....
... A DOG OF WAR!!!!
It was Cammie's little electronic doggie - it barked and slowly walked right over my army men!!!!
Not fair of course, but fun was had by all.

FINALLY SWITCHED

I was having trouble with my cell phone (Treo 700W) last year and since it was a legitimate issue - Verizon sent me a new phone to replace it.
Well... that was last year and early last year if I recall.. and I DID IT!
I finally switched my service over to the new phone!!!
All in about 10minutes at the local Verizon store.

It took me soooo long because, come on, ... whose got 10minutes to spare?!!

Windy Ride

Heather and I hopped on the Harley and headed off for a beautiful ride.
The wind picked up when we were the farthest from home (figures) and was especially fun when we crossed over a couple high bridges!
But, wind or not - it's always good to get out on the road and hear/feel the rumble of the bike.

SNOW??!!!!!

Wonder of wonders!!!!
IT'S SNOWING IN VIRGINIA!!!!
It rarely snows here in Portsmouth VA - so when it started - the kids got all excited and ran out to catch the first snowflakes on their tongues!!!!
A few hours later there was enough to make snowmen (small ones) and snowballs.
The kids kept coming in to warm up their frozen little hands.
It was great!!!

Kayaking in the Inner Coastal Waterway

Heather and I took our new Kayaks out for a spin.
It was great using the boats we just bought - especially since we had been talking about getting them for Christmas since June!!!
Anyway - it was great fun.
We had some wind there for a while and I even tried to go thru an area that was only 4 inches deep... bad idea. The kayak can handle 6 inches of water - but not 4.
Wish I had a picture of that.
Heather hadn't been in a kayak for quite some time and took right to the water like she was born to paddle.
Many adventures ahead - especially since there are TONS of waterways around here!

I used to wear my hair really long back then.
Tie-dyed T-shirts, bell-bottom pants and sandals... those were the days!

Biggest Snake in the World

This may not be the biggest snake on the planet, but it's the biggest one I have ever seen.
A friend sent me this picture: It's a snake on a ledge someplace in Australia, reaching down, trying to lift a full grown kangaroo out of the river.

All I can say is - I'm glad these things live in Australia!

I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, "Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?" To which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?" He smiled knowingly and nodded, "That's why we ask."

Protect us from these crazy people that you have placed here.
Help us avoid them at all cost and may they somehow find their sweet way OUT of the gene pool.

iPod Touch - Amazing Gift

Oh my Gosh!!!
What an incredible gift to ME!
Got a Christmas bonus and decided to use it on an iPod Touch.
It turned out to be one of the most absolute funnest toys I've ever purchased for myself.
I am checking/sending email, surfing the web, checking the weather, reading my daily bible scripture, learning German, watching Nature Channel podcasts, etc... all in bed or on the couch or in the kitchen!
Too cool.

Merry Christmas to and to all Continuous Good Times!

KurtF and I went Geocaching today and found 16 caches in Northwest River Park.
The weather was fantastic. Chilly but sunny.
We ate lunch on the trail way back in the woods (far from the car) and had loads of fun.
Upon arrival back at my place we cooked up some Hotdogs on the grill, some baked beans, chips and drank some good Christmas beer.

Fun was had by all... OK.. both.
Heather had to work today and KurtF's fiance still lives in New Mexico.
So... it was a true bachelor Christmas.

Gingerbread Seahorse

Kids came over the other day and we made Gingerbread Cookies.
There were all sorts of shapes and sizes.
Men, Women, Stockings, Snowmen, Candycanes, etc.
I made this nifty Gingerbread Seahorse.
Too fun.
The recipe was Heather's sister's recipe... the best gingerbread cookies we've ever had. They stay all soft and gooey for a long time.
The crunchy hard ones are not all that great - so we didn't make that kind.
Anyway - Blessings to all and I hope your Gingerbread Cookies are all gooey and yummy.

Giant Squirrel Spotten in Virginia

Howdy all... This monster squirrel was climbing around in my backyard.
It nearly ATE my whole oak tree and dug up my entire garden to bury the nuts.
So a buddy and I (pictured above) shot it.
We're gunna cook it up with a side of potatoes and gravy for Christmas.
There is going to be enough meat left over for the local homeless shelter to serve during the Holidays.
